Virtual tours have been widely used in the construction industry but this technology has been limited to a slide show. DigsFact is on a mission to democratize access to cutting-edge virtual tours with capabilities unheard of. The company aims to enable any person to create an avatar of themselves in the virtual world, improve the visuals with additional information in various formats, and share it with anyone on any platform, at a negligible cost. Its unique virtual tour technology captures spatial data remotely and delivers holistic experience, so property owners, contractors, brokers, and even buyers can experience themselves standing onsite and accurately measure every inch of it, remotely. The unique features include taking accurate measurements remotely from 2D photos and interacting with 2D and 3D floor plans, sketches, and models remotely, which are created from regular 2D photos!
The biggest hurdle in the construction industry is what you see on screen is not always what the reality is. To that end, DigsFact has developed its technology with key features while more of them are under development. With its 360-degree virtual tour, people can avoid inadvertent errors that may prove costly after the fact. For instance, the company’s study with individual contractors suggested that the contractors had erroneous recordings of the space dimensions through the traditional approach.
With the 360-degree virtual tour, remote measurement capability, and 3D model, they were exposed to perspectives that they had failed to capture while measuring the space. These functionalities can be accessed with a single tap on their smartphone.
DigsFact’s technology has emerged as the swiss army knife for home builders, commercial property builders, and renovation tools providers. Home builders can monitor the construction work and maintain an audit trail of the project execution. They can also remotely measure the site dimensions while purchasing parts. Once the project is completed, they can create 360-degree virtual tours with embedded room sizes mentioned and start marketing the sites instantly. Within the virtual tour, users can add custom notes for each room based on their unique needs. They can highlight the key attributes of the room such as furniture, cabinets, special material used, or scenic view through the window to attract property buyers. They can even create 2D and 3D floor plans using 2D photos. The virtual tours are stored on the cloud. The user can simply share the link to the tour with anyone on any digital platform, be it website, social media, or email.
These capabilities help them reduce cost significantly and improve the time to market of their residential and commercial property. “We understand clients’ use case and provide them our SDK or API using which they can allow their customers to use our 360-degree virtual tour and measurement features, easily,” says Nishant Tomar, Founder and CEO of DigsFact.
DigsFact’s significance has gone up several notches with the advent of COVID-19. More companies want their employees to work from home to a greater extent. On the other hand, homeowners are uncomfortable with agents walking in to take photos of the interior. With DigsFact’s technology, homeowners can create a virtual tour of their home and share it remotely with the agent, who, in turn, can post the content on their website and social media accounts. As the end customers have detailed information about the property, agents have a greater chance of dealing with a pool of serious buyers.
In the future, DigsFact is looking to help vacation rental businesses such as Airbnb, booking.com, and others. “With us, Airbnb hosts, for instance, can increase chances of renting their property by sharing the 360-degree virtual tour of their property for just $1 for a month while Airbnb doesn’t have to bear any cost,” says Tomar. And there is plenty in store for DigsFact as the company works closely to create new possibilities in different areas of the construction industry.
